Chicago, Aurora and Elgin Interurban car 434 at the Seashore Trolley Museum (1)

Chicago, Aurora and Elgin Interurban car 434 at the Seashore Trolley Museum. This car was fully restored in 2003, but developed air compressor problems towards the end of the year. THe C,A&E was at one time the fastest railroad in the US, reaching speeds of 70-80 mph, with service going from the suburbs, powered by overhead wire, right up into the Chicago El, running on third rail. This line really was a one-seat ride to work!

Today the task was to move 434 out of the Riverside carbarn to allow access to the air compressor, wich was about to get removed for maintenance.
