Red Birds.

On its way to Chambers Street Station on the IRT, a Lexington Avenue Local "Redbird" passes underneath lower Manhattan on the "6". The Redbirds have since been retired from service after an interesting run, many of which transported millions of people to and from the 1964-65 World's Fair as new products from the St. Louis Car Company.
