Rolling Stock with Attitude.

Sprague stock cars on a Number 2 Line bridge. These cars went into service between 1927 - 1928 and were designated as M4 motor cars, having four motors each. The Sprague series, for a subway buff, make all the right sights, sounds, and moves. The old carbon arc lighting, the growling traction motors, and the cars gyrations are a throwback to an earlier time. The cars were replaced by newer equipment on the Number 2 Line in 1981, and by now, they're fully retired from all lines. A few of the cars have been saved for either museum or film-making purposes.
