Small Tamper at the Seashore Trolley Museum

This Small Tamper at the Seashore Trolley Museum is highly effective on our mainline, packing ballast under the ties and rails. This unit can grab onto the rails, lifting them up to get them level, and many other tasks as well. The two outriggers visible can lift the tamper off the rails, allowing it to pivot around and change directions.

This unit has hyrdaulic drive, and hydraulic controls for the mounts for the fingers that do the actual work. To activate the fingers, however, the unit has air valves, because they are faster, and if one brakes, you don't get soaked with ydraulic fluid.
