Photo of Connecticut Trolley Museum Car 840
Connecticut Trolley Museum Car 840

This is Connecticut Company Car 840, currently residing at the Connecticut Trolley Museum. This car was built in 1905 and was used in New Haven. In it's later public service years with the Connecticut Company, the car was part of the famed Yale Bowl fleet, transporting passengers to and from football games. The cars were loaded twice to three times normal capacity. People piled on the roof, the running boards and the seats were all packed. Trolley after trolley, the people would get to the games.
