Defiant color scheme. A striking Key System streetcar, manufactured by the American Car Company of St. Louis, Missouri in 1911 for service in the East Bay area. Car is at the Western Railway Museum in Solano County, Northern California. The streetcar proudly wears its Key System colors prior to ownership by National City Lines. It has been claimed that the N C L, controlled by General Motors and it's subsidiaries, had a successful agenda to rid the country of trolleys by way of buying up the trolley lines and then converting the lines to bus routes, which in turn, would use GM products.
