The Blues on this Blue Line Train. From 1924 to 2008, your ride to Downtown Boston was at least comfortable on the various cars that operated today's Blue Line. The Type 1/2 built in 1923 by Pullman had a contoured wooden bench seat. The Type 3's built in 1951 by the St. Louis Car Company had a very comfortable cushioned bench seat to them. The Type 4 cars, built in 1978 by Hawker-Siddeley were both modern and comfortable, with individual contoured vinyl padded seating. Two survive in great condition at Seashore. The Type 5 cars, built by Siemens in 2008 are quite modern, but far from comfortable. IMHO these are the least comfortable seats ever constructed for an MBTA train. At least the Sox won 7 to 4 over Tampa Bay !
