While the new "Type 5" Blue Line cars from Siemens are basically good cars with a very generic interior, there is one big 'butt' to granting full approval. The seats are rock hard, have no form, and very uncomfortable.

Here is a look back to what your ride to Government Center looked like aboard this clean, bright, and very comfortable car built by Hawker-Siddeley. These were the East Boston Tunnel Type 4 cars that worked the Blue Line from 1979 to the end of 2008. The fake wood grain added a bit of period pizzazz to them, though riders I am sure appreciate the comfortable seats that are lacking on today's current Blue Line fleet. These were the first modern Blue Line cars with air conditioning, a PA system, and the cool chimes.

This Blue Line, "Blue Belle", car was providing plenty of rides on a great Transit Weekend at Seashore Trolley Museum !
