Buckeye Lake - Toledo & Eastern 40

This interesting half-open freight motor was constructed by Niles in 1905 for the Toledo Port Clinton & Lakeside. Later, while operating for Ohio Public Service during World War II, it was heavily damaged in a collision and was rebuilt in its current half-open form. After the T&E - its final operator - was abandoned in 1958 this car was acquired by an individual in Delta, OH who preserved it intact until it was moved to Buckeye Lake in the 1990's. Though essentially complete, it is now so deteriorated that restoration is highly unlikely. Photo by Jim Vaitkunas, posted with permission.
