Another one of my "archeology" shots - this one was shot from the trolley platform at North Station outbound, not far from where Tower C proudly stood. The view, north of the platform shows the old ramp where Boston Elevated Railway's Atlantic Avenue Elevated stubbed on its South Station to North Station shuttle. This would be the other end of the line from my previous "Tower D" shot. The shuttle between South Station (New Haven, Boston and Albany, and New York Central Railroads) and North Station (Boston and Maine Railroad) was very much needed in connecting the two major Boston railroad stations. Today, probably less so, but it would be a convenience. By 1938, the line was discontinued, its steel girders used for the War effort later in 1941. Occasionally, talk of a "new" shuttle is mentioned, including the possibility of Boston historic trolley's being used along Atlantic Avenue. Perhaps PCC's ? As of 2006 - sixty-eight years later - transfers between two lines are necessary to get from one station to the other.
