Photo of Walnut Street Trolley Bridge
Walnut Street Trolley Bridge

This photo, taken from my property in downtown Newport, RI, shows the abandoned Walnut Street trolley bridge abutments.

The trolleys travelled East and West across the top of this bridge while the railroad went North and South below it...

The trolleys are long gone, but the railroad tracks are used every Sunday by the Old Colony & Newport Railway on its tourism runs.
