An "Orange Blossom" Still in Bloom....

These "Orange Blossoms" are still on the job, more than 30 years after their arrival. They are the last of the 'elevated cars', and started working after the Blue Line's new "Blue Belle's" were being incorporated on that line. Both the "Blossoms" and "Belles" were built north of the border by Hawker-Siddeley, and with the same designs, though the "Blossoms" were longer. While the "Belle's" are history as regular passenger carriers on the Blue Line, the Blossoms are still going to around for a while longer. The folks north of the border know how to build a reliable rail car for the long haul. This "Blossom" was seen at "Chinatown" station, formerly "Essex" heading inbound on New Years Eve though the sign was not changed for "Oak Grove".
