The Tunnel

The former West Shore Railroad (New York Central) tunnel
under Bergen Hill was taken over by New Jersey Transit when the Tonnelle Ave Extension of the Hudson-Bergen
Light Rail Line was built. The West Shore accessed its
Weehawken Terminal through this tunnel. The railroad
and ferry terminal was about a quarter mile to viewer's left, at water's edge.
The NYO&W's trains also used this terminal.
