Photo of Reinforced curve.
Reinforced curve.

Long unused, we are looking at an abandoned section of the Tremont Street Tunnel immediately south of Boylston Street Station, directly underneath the intersection of Boylston Street at Tremont. Trolleys haven't used this section of the tunnel since the 1961 cancellation of the last line to use this branch, the North Station to Lenox Street Route. Notice the heavily reinforced restraining rail and what appears to be a radius/gauge reinforcing rail spiked to the right of the inner running rail, on this sharp curve.
